Bill Maher is one of the last remaining old-fashioned leftists in America.
We here at Politcrossing don’t agree with him on much.
But we are finding it increasingly difficult to lump him in with crazies on the left anymore.
Why?
Because he’s not completely crazy.
He actually complimented Ron DeSantis for his approach to combatting Covid. He said that DeSantis is a voracious reader of scientific literature, and is using what he has learned from his study to inform his Covid policies. He praised DeSantis for his senior-citizen centric approach to offering vaccines to the population. He also said that DeSantis was smart to not force children to be vaccinated or wear masks, given that the data showed Covid was less dangerous to kids than the flu.
He also stated that there is a recent study that shows 70% of Democrats think that Covid has a 20-50% death rate. 70%!!!!!!
He said that is NUTS! And that Democrats believe this is personally embarrassing to him as a Democrat, because the truth is that Covid has a death rate under 1%, and Maher is honest enough to admit that
That actually shocked me.
Pretty soon, he’s going to have to give up calling himself a leftist.
Bill, you didn’t leave the Democrat Party. It is running away from you, at high speed.
