The Will to Be Free

Published

on

Weeks into the invasion, Putin’s loses are severe, his advances have faced strong resistance. He made the mistake of assuming that Ukraine would fold under the threat of attack by the “mighty” Russian military forces. It’s clear to all that the motivation and competence of his military has been found wanting. Is it the Russian incompetence or are we reminded again that the resolve and will of a free people fighting to save their country is a force hard to match?

As the world watches, we applaud the power of heroic leadership and the will to preserve freedom. In the past, America projected that same confidence and had leaders willing to live it out when necessary. President Ronald Reagan warned “the enemies of freedom” not to test it.

In his first inaugural address, President Ronald Reagan spoke of that power in the will of American citizens. He asserted, “As for the enemies of freedom, those who are potential adversaries, they will be reminded that peace is the highest aspiration of the American people. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it; we will not surrender for it–now or ever. Our forbearance should never be misunderstood. Our reluctance for conflict should not be misjudged as a failure of will. When action is required to preserve our national security, we will act. We will maintain sufficient strength to prevail if need be, knowing that if we do so we have the best chance of never having to use that strength. Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have. It is a weapon that we as Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice terrorism and prey upon their neighbors.”

Even if recent advances are successful in taking Kiev, there are questions as to whether Russian forces will ever be able to take and control the Ukrainian people. Winning this “war” will ensure more than Russian loses of personnel and equipment, Putin will be saddled with controlling a country that hates him and chafes at any Russian presence. The resulting resistance movement will require extensive Russian forces to counter their attacks and sabotage. Russia will need find effective puppet leaders to control the country, the cites, and supply essential services after destroying critical infrastructure.

After threatening any country daring to help Ukraine, Putin has expressed hope of a “return to normal” relations with the free world. But the world has seen the evil he can do against citizens and cities that resist him. The world is repulsed by his actions, and the “new normal” he has created is one of earned hatred and distrust. While Putin struggles to control Ukraine, the free world seems committed to continued sanctions and potentially holding Putin himself accountable for documented war crimes.

Putin has reawakened NATO and the UN to the potential of his unchecked expansion of Russian power. NATO forces are already put on alert and will be more prepared to defend NATO countries in the face of any future attacks. Putin’s dream of an expanded Russia is a nightmare Europe and the world cannot allow to succeed.

Putin’s “win” will be short lived. He may be able to raise the Russian flag over Ukraine, but he will not have won the hearts and minds of those living under it. Some will have fled to safety. Certainly, some will adapt and try to accept the reality of Russian dominance in order to get by and take care of their families. But many will join a robust resistance. Russia succumbed to that resistance when they tried to take and control Afghanistan; Russia was eventually forced to leave. That will happen again.

Whether captured or killed in the coming weeks, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky showed the character of a free people when he resisted the offer to flee. The world heard his resolve and commitment, “I don’t need a ride. I need ammunition.” That is the resolve Putin will face even if he wins.

Unfortunately, while we stand in awe of the actions of the brave men and women in Ukraine, we wonder whether America still has that same pride and resolve of a free people. Would we fight with the same resolve and fury as the Ukrainians? Do we have a President strong enough to lead us in that fight for freedom?

Unfortunately, our President hasn’t been strong enough to even help send needed MIG planes to Ukraine. President Biden is letting “fear” overcome our resolve to help preserve “freedom.” Freedom isn’t free, and it must be earned in every generation. Will we elect politicians in Washington committed to preserving the America we know we can be? That is a question yet to be answered. In November, we will have the opportunity to start making that a reality.

Merrick Garland’s DOJ is out of control, for example …

The point of what Biden’s Justice Department is doing is not to bring justice; the point is to terrify and intimidate his political opponents.

Published

on

Tucker continues his coverage on the DOJ and FBI’s raid on homes of people who’ve merely criticized the current administration. Highlights include:

“… an update on the Biden administration’s armed crackdown on its critics. Earlier this month, the long time FBI agent and SWAT team veteran called Steve Friend came forward to blow the whistle on what he has seen happen to the FBI under Joe Biden, and what he said was shocking.”

“According to Agent Friend, Biden’s FBI routinely uses heavily armed SWAT teams to raid the homes of American citizens who dare to criticize the administration. Now, to be clear, these are people who pose no danger to anyone. These are people who haven’t even been accused, much less convicted of a violent crime. So the point is not to bring justice, the point is to terrify and intimidate Joe Biden’s political opponents.”

“On September 19, the FBI suspended Agent Steve Friend for daring to reveal what was happening, these abuses.”

“Now, it’s illegal under federal law to punish whistleblowers, but the FBI did it anyway. And then, four days later, with Friend out of the way, on the morning of September 23, a team of nearly 30 FBI agents bristling with automatic weapons raided the home of yet another harmless man with no criminal record. That man’s name was Mark Houck. Houck is 47, he’s a leader in his local Catholic community. FBI agents pointed rifles at Houck and his wife in front of their seven children.”

“Once again, to be clear, Houck is not a terrorist, he’s never been accused of terrorism. He is instead a pro-lifer.”

“Now, Houck learned about three months ago that the DOJ planned to charge him and he offered to turn himself in voluntarily. That’s what a civilized country allows. But that wasn’t good enough for Merrick Garland’s DOJ. They wanted to punish him and terrify his family to send the right message to anyone who would dare get in the way of the Biden agenda. So the DOJ sent a team of federal agents with rifles to Houck’s home. He now faces 11 years in prison for protecting his son.”

The people of Italy win big

Of course, leftist tyrants are not happy.

Published

on

Tucker compares what’s going on in Europe with our own corrupt government here and finds them quite similar. Also, Giorgia Meloni’s big win in Italy, why she won and why the American left can’t stand it. Highlights include:

“Not a lot of Americans pay attention to European politics unless they’re very bored or work at some think-tank, and that’s understandable, but it’s a shame really, because if you look closely at what’s happening in Europe, you can learn a lot about what’s happening here.”

“Despite the castles and the funny accents and the smelly cheese, Europe is not actually that different from the United States, at least in this way. European leaders run their countries pretty much the same way our leaders run our country. They yammer on endlessly about democracy, but then at the same time they do their best to avoid democracy’s most basic requirements, like free speech and representative government.”

“You run a country in the name of the people. You’re not a king, you’re a democratically elected leader. You run it in the name of the people who live there, but at the same time it’s ‘dangerous’ to allow the opinions of those people to influence your decisions.”

“Does that sound familiar? It does because it’s exactly the kind of democracy that we live in, which is to say, a fake one.”

“In fact, there is no majority in any country on planet Earth that thinks open borders are a good idea, or that considers global warming the single biggest problem, or that thinks it’s wise to quarantine the entire population because of a flu virus. No large group of people anywhere wants these things. But in the west, everybody gets them anyway because politicians don’t care what you think. Your opinion is ‘dangerous’.”

“Shut up, racist!”

“This summer, a conservative populist called Giorgia Meloni started showing up with strong supports in the polls. Meloni was no radical, her views would’ve seemed perfectly ordinary just a decade ago. But because she resolutely refused to bow to the twin gods of climate and mass migration, people panicked. The president of the European Commission, in fact, on camera commanded Italians not to vote for her.”

“These aren’t mysteries, but you’re not allowed to acknowledge them in public, period. In some places it’s illegal. But, Meloni is one of the few politicians who doesn’t care and has been willing to say the obvious, the Truth, out loud, and as a result of that, because she’s been willing to say what everybody actually knows, last night her party, called ‘Brothers of Italy,’ won an overwhelming victory in Italy.”

“American families are facing the very same onslaught from the very same poisonous ideologies. The difference is that in this country it’s rarely acknowledged except on the fringes. Meloni is not on the fringes, she’s the new Prime Minister of Italy, she will be, and she’s saying it out loud. Contrast that to what’s happening in the United States. House Republicans just spelled out what they’re running on. It’s a document called ‘the Commitment to America.'”

“You probably haven’t read it, nobody really cares. Why? Because there’s nothing real in it. There’s not a single word in that document about the attacks on the American family that you see every day.”

“It’s their hysteria and their total unwillingness to ask obvious questions that lets you in on the secret, which is they’re panicked, because they know the current system is doomed.”

“And in fact, what happened last night in Italy is the best case scenario for them, because it was a peaceful transfer of power. That’s a good thing, that’s what you want. In a democracy, people should be allowed to have some influence on the priorities of the government that claims to represent them. And when they speak in an election, the people who’ve been repudiated have a moral obligation to pause just for one second and ask, ‘Why didn’t they like what I was offering them?'”

“But they never ask themselves that. They never take any blame whatsoever.”
