Surviving Each Day’s Disastrous News

It makes sense for each of us, periodically, to take a deep breath and slow down a bit

Published

on

Every single day, unceasingly, the Biden White House screws up another aspect of our society. While the hits are non-stop, individually it makes sense for each of us, periodically, to take a deep breath and slow down a bit. Otherwise the whirlwind will be too much.

Try This at Home

Here’s a perspective you might not have considered. Most of what you experience each day, in terms of the overwhelm and of the passage of time, is based on your perception. You can’t change the news but you can slow down time if you choose. How? Whenever you feel you’re racing the clock or trying to ingest too much news at once, try this exercise:

Close your eyes for a minute and imagine a pleasant scene. You might be surrounded in trees or with a loved one. It could be something from childhood. Let the emotions of that place and time pervade you. Get into it! Give yourself more than a New York minute for the visualization to take hold. Then, open your eyes and return to what you’re doing. Whatever care or task you’re working on is not quite so bad and whatever pace you were working at is never quite so feverish.

Drop Back and Reflect

Imagine you’re flying on an airplane. You have a window seat, and it’s a clear day. As you gaze down to the ground below, you see life passing by, cars the size of ants, miniature baseball diamonds, and rivers the size of streams. There’s something about being at great heights that enables you reflect on your life. The same phenomenon can take place from the top of a mountain or skyscraper. When things seem to be racing by too fast, seek higher ground, literally, for a clearer perspective.

If you’re among the lucky, perhaps you regularly allocate time for reflection or meditation. If you don’t, it’s no matter. There are other ways to make it all “slow down.” After the workday, listen to relaxing music with headphones, and close your eyes. A half hour of your favorite music with no disturbances (and your eyes closed) can seem almost endless. When you re-emerge, the rest of the day takes on a different tenor.

An effective method for slowing down time and catching up with today is periodically deleting three items from your “to-do list” without doing them at all. Before you shriek, consider that much of what makes your list is arbitrary. Often, deleting a few items won’t impact your career or life, and will free up a little time for yourself.

The Animal Kingdom

If you have a dog or cat and do not consider it a drain on your time, here’s a little something about Rover or Mittens that you may not have known. In recent years, scientists have found proof that contact with animals has specific and measurable effects on both your body and mind. The mere presence of animals can increase a sick person’s chances of survival, and has been shown to lower heart rate, calm disturbed children, and induce incommunicative people to initiate conversation!

The exact mechanisms that animals exert to affect your health and well-being are still largely mysterious. Scientists suspect that animal companionship is beneficial because, unlike human interaction (!), it is uncomplicated. Animals are nonjudgmental, accepting and attentive; they don’t talk back, criticize, or give orders. Animals have a unique capacity to draw people out.

Even if you only have goldfish, sometimes simply staring at them in their silent world can help deaden your hectic pace.

When you consider all of the ways you add unnecessary pressures to your day, you begin to see many ways to catch up with today or, at least, with this week despite the media onslaught.

Merrick Garland’s DOJ is out of control, for example …

The point of what Biden’s Justice Department is doing is not to bring justice; the point is to terrify and intimidate his political opponents.

Published

on

Tucker continues his coverage on the DOJ and FBI’s raid on homes of people who’ve merely criticized the current administration. Highlights include:

“… an update on the Biden administration’s armed crackdown on its critics. Earlier this month, the long time FBI agent and SWAT team veteran called Steve Friend came forward to blow the whistle on what he has seen happen to the FBI under Joe Biden, and what he said was shocking.”

“According to Agent Friend, Biden’s FBI routinely uses heavily armed SWAT teams to raid the homes of American citizens who dare to criticize the administration. Now, to be clear, these are people who pose no danger to anyone. These are people who haven’t even been accused, much less convicted of a violent crime. So the point is not to bring justice, the point is to terrify and intimidate Joe Biden’s political opponents.”

“On September 19, the FBI suspended Agent Steve Friend for daring to reveal what was happening, these abuses.”

“Now, it’s illegal under federal law to punish whistleblowers, but the FBI did it anyway. And then, four days later, with Friend out of the way, on the morning of September 23, a team of nearly 30 FBI agents bristling with automatic weapons raided the home of yet another harmless man with no criminal record. That man’s name was Mark Houck. Houck is 47, he’s a leader in his local Catholic community. FBI agents pointed rifles at Houck and his wife in front of their seven children.”

“Once again, to be clear, Houck is not a terrorist, he’s never been accused of terrorism. He is instead a pro-lifer.”

“Now, Houck learned about three months ago that the DOJ planned to charge him and he offered to turn himself in voluntarily. That’s what a civilized country allows. But that wasn’t good enough for Merrick Garland’s DOJ. They wanted to punish him and terrify his family to send the right message to anyone who would dare get in the way of the Biden agenda. So the DOJ sent a team of federal agents with rifles to Houck’s home. He now faces 11 years in prison for protecting his son.”

The people of Italy win big

Of course, leftist tyrants are not happy.

Published

on

Tucker compares what’s going on in Europe with our own corrupt government here and finds them quite similar. Also, Giorgia Meloni’s big win in Italy, why she won and why the American left can’t stand it. Highlights include:

“Not a lot of Americans pay attention to European politics unless they’re very bored or work at some think-tank, and that’s understandable, but it’s a shame really, because if you look closely at what’s happening in Europe, you can learn a lot about what’s happening here.”

“Despite the castles and the funny accents and the smelly cheese, Europe is not actually that different from the United States, at least in this way. European leaders run their countries pretty much the same way our leaders run our country. They yammer on endlessly about democracy, but then at the same time they do their best to avoid democracy’s most basic requirements, like free speech and representative government.”

“You run a country in the name of the people. You’re not a king, you’re a democratically elected leader. You run it in the name of the people who live there, but at the same time it’s ‘dangerous’ to allow the opinions of those people to influence your decisions.”

“Does that sound familiar? It does because it’s exactly the kind of democracy that we live in, which is to say, a fake one.”

“In fact, there is no majority in any country on planet Earth that thinks open borders are a good idea, or that considers global warming the single biggest problem, or that thinks it’s wise to quarantine the entire population because of a flu virus. No large group of people anywhere wants these things. But in the west, everybody gets them anyway because politicians don’t care what you think. Your opinion is ‘dangerous’.”

“Shut up, racist!”

“This summer, a conservative populist called Giorgia Meloni started showing up with strong supports in the polls. Meloni was no radical, her views would’ve seemed perfectly ordinary just a decade ago. But because she resolutely refused to bow to the twin gods of climate and mass migration, people panicked. The president of the European Commission, in fact, on camera commanded Italians not to vote for her.”

“These aren’t mysteries, but you’re not allowed to acknowledge them in public, period. In some places it’s illegal. But, Meloni is one of the few politicians who doesn’t care and has been willing to say the obvious, the Truth, out loud, and as a result of that, because she’s been willing to say what everybody actually knows, last night her party, called ‘Brothers of Italy,’ won an overwhelming victory in Italy.”

“American families are facing the very same onslaught from the very same poisonous ideologies. The difference is that in this country it’s rarely acknowledged except on the fringes. Meloni is not on the fringes, she’s the new Prime Minister of Italy, she will be, and she’s saying it out loud. Contrast that to what’s happening in the United States. House Republicans just spelled out what they’re running on. It’s a document called ‘the Commitment to America.'”

“You probably haven’t read it, nobody really cares. Why? Because there’s nothing real in it. There’s not a single word in that document about the attacks on the American family that you see every day.”

“It’s their hysteria and their total unwillingness to ask obvious questions that lets you in on the secret, which is they’re panicked, because they know the current system is doomed.”

“And in fact, what happened last night in Italy is the best case scenario for them, because it was a peaceful transfer of power. That’s a good thing, that’s what you want. In a democracy, people should be allowed to have some influence on the priorities of the government that claims to represent them. And when they speak in an election, the people who’ve been repudiated have a moral obligation to pause just for one second and ask, ‘Why didn’t they like what I was offering them?'”

“But they never ask themselves that. They never take any blame whatsoever.”

Watch the video below and give your own political commentary in the … comments … yeah, that didn’t come out as cool as it did in my head, but anyway, comments.
