Nine Bible Passages to Give You Hope!

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

The Bible is a fantastic place to go to find encouragement and hope in times of trouble. It is obvious that we are in a time of trouble now in America. More than ever we should turn our faces to God and seek his blessing. The good news is that God is a God of hope and blessing. Pray over these passages. Meditate on them. Ask God to make them powerful in your life!

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

James 4:8: Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

II Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Phil. 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

Matthew 19:26 “And looking at them, Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

I Peter 5:10 “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, the one who called you into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will himself restore, empower, strengthen, and establish you.”

Hebrews 10:23 “Let’s hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, because the one who made the promises is reliable.”

And lastly, one of the most famous and powerful passages in the Bible, Psalm 23 “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

When we think of those who are to be pitied, we typically think of those who are less fortunate, the poor, the destitute, the downtrodden. Those who are sick or disfigured.

But what if we are missing the whole point of life?

Far more in need of our pity is not those mentioned above. No, far more to be pitied are the wildly successful, if they do not know the Lord. Think of it!

The multi-millionaire businessperson…

The Grammy awarded singer…

The championship winning athlete…

The scientist who develops cures…

And yet when they die, it is all over. There is no eternal victory. They won the battle, but not the war. A lifetime of achievement with no eternal reward. One infinitesimal moment of time in eternity.

Yet those mentioned earlier, if they know the Lord, it is but a short period of time in the grand scheme of eternity. A lifetime of suffering completed and capped off with an eternity of beauty and bliss.

So, who is to be pitied? And what about you? Do you know the Lord?
