Dr. Steve Turley, author and popular YouTuber/podcaster, was a featured speaker at the American Freedom Tour event that took place in Jacksonville on Oct. 8-9.

He is scheduled to appear in the American Freedom Tour event taking place in Phoenix on Nov. 19-20.

First, please forgive our videographer. Dr. Turley had just begun his speech, and the guy manning the videocamera hadn’t yet set it up. So it’s horribly distractingly chaotic. I’ll make sure to whack him in the back of the head the next time he messes up so badly.

In any case, in his speech Dr. Turley encouraged the audience to retain a balanced perspective on the future of America, while also taking hope that the philosophy behind the Left is dying.

“The Stockdale Principle. Have you ever heard of the Stockdale Principle? Named after Admiral James Stockdale, a highest ranking military navy man who was in a Vietnam prison war camp? And they asked him: How did you survive seven years and over 20 tortures? And he said by doing two things:

1. By being absolutely realistic about the situation that I’m in.
2. Never ever losing hope that we’re going to prevail.

“So the ones who only despaired or the ones who were blindly optimistic: Those were the ones who didn’t make it out. Okay? So if you’ve got a Debbie Downer, get away from that person, okay? The person who’s only doubting, the person who’s only optimistic, you gotta put those two together.

“And what we’ve got to understand is we’re in a time, right now, where scholars — now, these are primarily liberal scholars — believe that liberalism is dying. You have to let that hit you. Liberalism is dying and the reason why philosophically big-picture is because its foundations have rotted out. Its foundations.

“It’s called modernity. And modernity is an 18th century philosophy that said scientific rationalism was the one true way of understanding reality. Religion, traditions, all that: nonsense. Complete nonsense. Now scientific — Star Trek, bold new world, brave new world — is going to rule everything.

“What scholars have noticed is that modern philosophy has rotted out. It’s dead. Nobody believes it anymore. And you don’t have to be a genius to figure out that if the roots have rotted out, then the liberal fruits will eventually wither away as well.

“The key to understanding what’s going on — the key — is that even although those modernist roots for liberalism have rotted out, our Western elite continue to try to export modernity in the form of globalization. And globalization, it erases our borders, it hollows out our industry, and calls our traditions racist, bigoted, homophobic.

“And, again, just one problem: Nobody’s buying it anymore. So there’s this massive backlash where populations all over the world are standing up for their borders, standing up for their economy, and standing up for their cultures and their traditions. You put that together with the religious renewal we talked about yesterday and then the massive demography revolution where conservative patriots are having kids and secular liberals aren’t: We’re unstoppable.”

The American Freedom Tour is a celebration of faith, family, unalienable rights and God-given American freedoms. In a time when so many in the media and government are tearing down America and its people, the American Freedom Tour celebrates America and what makes us great.
